Yay Panay

Panay Island is located in Western Visayas and is divided into four provinces namely Aklan, Antique, Capiz, and Iloilo. I've been to Aklan twice, and once in Antique and Iloilo. And I really fell in love with them, so peaceful and mesmeric. I only had glimpse of them as side trips on my other travels ,so this time Taty and I decided to explore them more. Lemme share to you our 5-day Panay island adventure.

AKLAN
" Kapag mahal mo babalikan mo"- Clark Medina ,OTWOL
Aklan has been very special to me. Firstly because it was my first travel with my family via plane (2006), secondly 'coz it was where Taty and I first met (2012) hihi kiligs.

Day 0
We arrived in Kalibo International Airport at around 7pm , then we went straight to City Mall ( GO DD, soar high hiha) to meet Ridge. He's a good friend of mine who lives in Boracay and is currently studying at Kalibo. We spend the night at his apartment, shared stories over ice cream, yumyum!

PS. I miss my household, shout out to TEAM BATIBOT!
*Hi Ridge, study well!

The hot bath is a perfect relaxation after those adrenaline giving activities (hiking and kayaking).

3:30-4:00pm= Habal habal from Kawa Inn to Culasi Port (P125)
*from the national road you can also ride a bus to Culasi, but we opt to hire a  habal-habal to drop us off directly to Culasi Port ,since buses during late afternoons rarely passes by.
4:15-4:30pm= Pumpboat to Mararison Island (P375) Terminal fee (P30)
There are commuter pumpboats to Mararison Island (P70) ,but schedules always vary depending on the number of commuters. Since we came in late afternoon , there were no passengers thus we needed to pay the whole boat  for a round trip fare of  P750.

5:00pm = Home-stay at Auntie Haida's (P250)
             = Extended electricity use (P150)
Electricity (via generator) in Mararison is only from 6:00pm -10:00 pm. There is additional fee of P300 if you want to use the generator 'till 5am.

Day 2
7:00-10:00am= Hike at Lantawan (P100 for the tour guide)
The elementary school is relocated at the foot of the mountain, because during typhoon it often got destroyed. I honor these students who hikes every waking day to go schooling.

Say halu to these carnivorous pitcher plants,  literally a TOUCH ME NOT BEH kind of plant hihi.

I love taking random pictures of tour guides, for me they are one of the best subjects for photo ops . They are natural models hihi.

We waited for almost two hours  at a sari-sari store before a bus bound to Boracay arrived. Luckily locals there are very welcoming hihi. The owner of the store and Kuya Joem ,our trike driver, shared stories with us, creepy stories about aswangs. Nevertheless, I felt safe during the whole time. They even left the sari-sari store open with us alone,  'coz they needed to fetch their kids from school, amazing iba sila magtiwala beh.

There are a lot of cheap hotels and inns in Station 2 and 3 and it's best to ask the locals for an affordable and clean place to stay. I am not someone who's fond of luxurious hotels. I'd rather spend on food than on hotels haha.
8:00-10:00pm = Dinner at Aplaya (P300)
Having dinner by the beach and sharing stories over seafood and pizza made our stomachs and souls filled and satisfied. Lovely night it was!
